One day a farmer’s donkey fell down an abandoned well. The farmer tried to rescue him, but after hours of trying, it became clear that it wasn’t meant to be.
Tearfully, the farmer decided that the most humane thing to do was to cover the donkey in dirt.
As they began to shovel the dirt in, the animal got loud fighting to make his way up the well but as he did, he began to sink faster.
Finally, the donkey decided to quit fighting but as the dirt began to pile onto his back, it angered him so much that he wanted to have nothing to do with the farmer so he would shake off each pile of dirt that came down and try and stomp on it to show his displeasure.
No longer hearing the donkey’s cries, the farmer peered into the well and was stunned by what he saw.
As the donkey would shake off and “stomp” the dirt, it was raising him higher and higher as each pile formed a new layer of dirt like stairs.
Soon, the donkey was high enough to step out of the well.
The donkey stared gleefully as the farmer draped his arms around the donkey’s neck in happiness.
Business Tip: You have 2 choices when life shovels dirt on your back. You can be a stubborn donkey sinking further down in anger or you can let things roll off your shoulder and not let it bury you. Every trouble is a steppingstone that we must use to rise up.
